Frequently asked questions

Straight answers on distribution, royalties, splits, publishing and the BBN Event Suite.

What is bbn.music?

bbn.music is a music platform from BBN Music GmbH in Germany. The core is distribution: releases go to 35+ stores and streaming services in 195 countries. On top of distribution sit the tools that labels work with every day — royalty accounting, revenue splits, publishing and digital contracts. Three groups use the platform: independent record labels run their back office in the BBN Label Suite, artists release their own music through the artist plans, and promoters manage their shows with the BBN Event Suite.

How much does bbn.music cost?

Three plans. The free artist plan costs €0 and you keep 97% of your revenue. The paid artist plan costs €12 per year and you keep 100%. The BBN Label Suite covers distribution, royalties, splits, publishing and contracts for the whole roster; its pricing is custom, based on your label's size. Write to support@bbn.music for a quote.

What is the difference between the artist plans and the BBN Label Suite?

Artist plans are for one artist releasing their own music; the Label Suite is for running an entire label. Artist plans include distribution to 35+ stores and royalty payouts. With the Label Suite you also get roster management, per-song revenue splits, royalty accounting across the whole catalogue, publishing and digital contracts. If you release music for other artists, pick the Label Suite.

How do I move my label to bbn.music?

Send an email to support@bbn.music; we onboard every label personally. Together we review your catalogue, plan the transfer and set up roster, splits and contracts in the Label Suite. Your back catalogue moves over with its existing metadata, and new releases go out through bbn.music as soon as your account is ready.

Which stores and countries does bbn.music deliver to?

We deliver to 35+ stores and streaming services in 195 countries. Through our delivery network you reach the major platforms plus regional and genre-focused services. You upload a release once. Delivery, store updates and takedowns for the whole catalogue are managed from one dashboard.

How do royalty payouts work on bbn.music?

Stores report your revenue to bbn.music; you see it per release, per song and per store in your dashboard and request payouts from there. The free artist plan pays out 97% of revenue, the €12/year plan 100%. On the Label Suite, payouts follow the splits you set, and each participant receives their share.

What are splits, and how does split escrow protect artists?

A split is the percentage breakdown of a release's revenue between everyone involved: label, artists, producers. You set splits per release or per song, and we pay each share out directly, so nobody has to forward money by hand. Split escrow is the safety layer on top: an artist's share is reserved from the moment revenue arrives, and it stays theirs even if the split setup changes later.

Do I need to be registered with GEMA to use bbn.music?

No. Publishing on bbn.music is opt-in. It only applies to labels that work with a collecting society such as GEMA and have an IPI number; for those labels we validate publishing shares and register works. Everyone else distributes and accounts their masters as usual and can turn publishing on at any time.

Does bbn.music handle publishing administration?

Yes, for labels on the Label Suite. If your label is registered with a performing rights organization and has an IPI number, we manage your publishing data next to your masters: songwriter shares are captured and validated per song, and your works are registered. In the accounting, publishing royalties and master royalties stay separate.

What is the BBN Event Suite?

The BBN Event Suite is the booking and event back office on bbn.music, built for promoters and booking teams. Booking requests, event details and your acts live in one place instead of scattered inboxes and spreadsheets. It runs in the same account as the Label Suite.

Can artists and promoters use one bbn.music account?

Yes. A label runs distribution and royalties in the Label Suite and shows in the Event Suite with one login. Artists who promote their own events see releases, payouts and bookings in one dashboard.

Is bbn.music GDPR compliant, and where is my data stored?

Yes. BBN Music GmbH, the company behind bbn.music, is based in Germany and processes personal data under the GDPR. European data protection standards apply to every account, on artist plans and the Label Suite alike. For privacy questions or data requests, write to support@bbn.music. Your mail goes straight to the team that operates the platform.
